Over the years, the dedicated efforts of our manufacturing group have brought General Steel Drum to a position of strength and quality that far surpasses what our expectations were in 1979.
Today, General Steel Drum is poised to claim its deserved place among the nation's best manufacturers of new steel drums. Never has "General" expereinced such a dramtic change or confronted such exciting possibilities.
During the last few years, General Steel Drum has expanded and upgraded its physical facilities to address the increase in production that has gradually occurred over the last 30 years. Upgrades include the Atlanta Grotnes AS 950 Seamer, the Merco lining system, introduction of the ISO Full Open Head, and the introduction of the Tight Head Galvanized drum. Our new Parts Cleaning Machine manufactured by Better Engineering was delivered on September, 2006 and an additional rinse tank was added in October, 2007. We continue to upgrade our cleaning process because we know better results are achieved by our method of cleaning steel in the cylindrical form as compared to cleaning flat sheets which lead to the possibility of contaminated steel under interior coating.
Our process is very similar to others in our industry with one major difference: steel washing. Nearly all of our competitors have stopped washing the steel for drums. We have chosen not to follow this trend as we feel quality is reduced by using flash off oils and lubricants.
These improvements have enhanced every aspect of our production capabilities. The improvements at "General" go beyond manufacturing capabilities. Each year we grow due to customer requirements. At the same time, we are providing increasing levels of financial investment in order to continue to provide our customers with the best steel drum in the industry.
Our Mission General Steel Drum is committed to being the best quality and most efficient supplier of steel shipping containers in the Southeast.
We accomplish this mission through continuous improvement: constantly striving to increase quality, safety, and productvity while eliminating waste. Continuous improvement requires total involvement of our people and paertnership with our suppliers and customers.
At General Steel Drum we will provide the training, equipment, and support necessary to for our team to accomplish this mission.
